Training in Orlando

An Orlando session draws on all of Central Florida: Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties, with Volusia, Brevard and Polk around them. Kissimmee, Sanford and Clermont are short drives from downtown. Daytona Beach, the Space Coast and Lakeland are each about an hour out, and Ocala is a little over an hour to the northwest.

Training happens in one of two places. Either the instructor comes to you and works with you and your staff on the equipment you already use, with travel built into the quote, or you travel to the instructor’s own working practice. In both cases the session is private, you work with a real patient who has consented, and we fix the scope before you book.

Who can train? Anyone legally able to provide the treatment in Florida. What you can do turns on the license you hold, and Florida sets a different line for each one. The Florida section below gives you the short version and a link to the full reading, license by license, sources included.

Local detail

Orlando at a glance.

How the instructor gets to you, the counties an Orlando session takes in, and the health systems of Central Florida.

Getting here

When the course runs inside your practice, the instructor lands at Orlando International Airport (MCO) or, for practices north of the city, Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). The instructor’s travel and lodging are part of the quote.

The area an Orlando session covers

Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, Brevard and Polk counties. That includes Winter Park, Lake Nona, Kissimmee, Sanford, Altamonte Springs, Oviedo, Clermont, Daytona Beach, Melbourne and Lakeland. Practices on the Gulf side, in the northeast or in South Florida have their own pages: Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami.

Health systems in Central Florida

Orlando providers practice alongside Orlando Health, which describes itself as a private, not-for-profit healthcare organization founded more than 100 years ago, now working across Florida, Puerto Rico and into Alabama; and AdventHealth Orlando, which in its own words serves as a major tertiary referral hospital for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Lake Nona Medical City

The UCF College of Medicine, established in 2006, calls itself one of the first U.S. medical schools in decades to be built from the ground up, and it is a founding member of Orlando’s growing Medical City at Lake Nona. The Orlando VA Medical Center is part of the same 650-acre health and life sciences park.

Worth knowing

AdventHealth’s Orlando story starts in 1908, when Adventist pastor Rufus Parmele made an offer on a failed tuberculosis facility in Orlando that became a 20-bed sanitarium. His wife, Lydia, became the first physician. Source

The market

Central Florida in numbers.

The public record on the four counties closest to Orlando: how many people live in each, how fast that is changing, how old they are and how many physicians the state counts. A link to the publisher follows every figure.

Close to three million residents, most of them outside the city

The Census Bureau’s July 2025 estimates give Orange County 1,528,002 residents on about 902 square miles of land. Source Seminole County has 491,884, Source Osceola 481,718 Source and Lake 456,068. Source By our sum that is 2,957,672 people. The City of Orlando has 333,888 of them. Source That leaves close to four in five Orange County residents outside the city limits, in another city or in unincorporated county, and the local rules further down differ on each side of that line.

The growth is south and west of Orlando

From the April 2020 base to July 2025, Osceola County’s population rose 23.9 percent Source and Lake County’s 18.8 percent. Source Orange grew 6.9 percent Source and Seminole 4.5 percent, Source against 3.1 percent for the United States. Source Kissimmee is in Osceola and Clermont is in Lake, so the edges of the area a session covers are filling in faster than its center.

A young county beside an older one

In Orange County, 20.7 percent of residents are under 18 and 14.3 percent are 65 or older. Source The national shares are 21.1 and 18.9 percent. Source By subtraction, 65 percent of Orange County falls between 18 and 64. For the country it is 60 percent. Lake County, one county west, looks different: 28.0 percent of its residents are 65 or older. Source These figures describe residents. They do not count patients.

More than half of Osceola speaks another language at home

In Osceola County a majority of residents aged five and up, 54.7 percent, speak a language other than English at home, and 26.6 percent of all residents were born in another country. Source Orange County is at 38.5 and 24.3 percent. Source On language, Seminole is at 23.1 percent Source and Lake at 16.1, Source on either side of the national 22.3 percent. Source The Census Bureau measured these over 2020 to 2024.

Two thirds of the physicians are in Orange County

Florida’s Department of Health surveys physicians when they renew a license and publishes the counts in its Physician Workforce Annual Report. The 2025 edition’s table by county has 4,577 physicians in Orange, 831 in Seminole, 753 in Osceola and 735 in Lake: 6,896 by our sum, about two thirds of them in Orange. Per 10,000 residents, the report’s figure is 30.24 in Orange and between 16.92 and 17.85 in the other three. Source It counts survey respondents, not every license holder.

An airport sized for visitors

Orlando International recorded 57,675,573 passengers in 2025. Source Set that against the 2,957,672 residents of the four counties and it is between 19 and 20 passengers for every resident, by our arithmetic. The airport puts itself 12 miles from downtown Orlando. Source Orlando Sanford International, in Sanford, lists downtown as a 30 minute drive. Source

Practices by type

County Business Patterns, the Census Bureau’s count of business locations, lists 1,206 offices of physicians in Orange County for 2023, with 204 offices of chiropractors and 215 offices of physical, occupational and speech therapists and audiologists, which the Census reports as one group. Source Around it, Brevard has 479 physician offices, Seminole 425, Volusia 420, Lake 320, Polk 304 and Osceola 292. Orange has more than Seminole, Lake and Osceola combined, which is 1,037 by our sum. Seminole has 84 chiropractic offices, about one for every five physician offices, where Orange has about one for every six. Each is a business location with paid employees, not a count of clinicians.

Local rules

What Orlando and Orange County ask of a practice.

Florida, not the city, decides what your license covers, and the Florida section below deals with that. This section is about the practice as a business at an Orlando address: the city, county and state offices you answer to, as of October 2026. Read it as a place to start, not legal advice, and take each point to the office named.

Two business tax receipts inside the city

The City of Orlando says “You must pay a tax to operate any business within city limits,” and that all businesses must have both city and county business tax receipts. Source The order matters. The Orange County Tax Collector says a municipal Business Tax Receipt must be obtained before applying for the county one, and names Orlando among the 11 cities in the county that require their own. Source

Outside the city limits, county zoning comes first

Orange County says its Zoning Division “must approve all proposed new businesses located within Unincorporated Orange County,” and that the actual Business Tax Receipt is issued by the Orange County Tax Collector. Source How we read it: first settle which side of a city line the suite is on, since that decides whether you start with a city or with county zoning.

A Certificate of Use for the address

Orlando requires a Certificate of Use in conjunction with a Business Tax Receipt “to ensure that a business is allowed to operate in the zoning district where it is located.” Its list of cases where one will not be required begins with “Individual professionals within a professional office.” Source How we read it: the page does not say how that line applies to a practice that is itself the business at the address, so put the question to the city’s Permitting Services Division.

The practice name is a state filing

The Florida Division of Corporations defines a fictitious name as one different from your personal name, if you are a sole proprietor, or from your entity’s legal name, if you have formed one. It is registered with the Florida Department of State before you do business under it, and a registration is valid for 5 years. Source

Biomedical waste goes through the county health office

Florida law says “All persons who generate, store, or treat biomedical waste shall obtain a permit from the department prior to commencing operation,” and exempts a generator of less than 25 pounds in each 30-day period from its registration and fee requirements. Source The department is the Department of Health, and an inspection by the local county health department comes before any permit is issued. Source For Orlando that office is the Florida Department of Health in Orange County. A Sanford or Altamonte Springs practice deals with the Seminole County office, in Sanford. Source

Florida rules

Florida scope and law, in brief.

This short version, current to October 2026, is a starting point, not legal advice. The full reading, license by license with every statute linked, is in the Florida scope and law sections on our Miami page, and our summary is on the rules by state page.

It is your responsibility to confirm the modality is legal in your state for your license. Do that before you book. The authority on your own scope is your licensing board, not us.

Physicians, NPs and PAs

The Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine license physicians. Florida has restricted practice for nurse practitioners, according to the AANP. Source An NP registered for autonomous practice may use it only in primary care. Source Other NP work runs under a protocol with a supervising physician. Source A PA practices under physician supervision. Source

RNs, chiropractic physicians and physical therapists

How we read it: an RN’s part in a procedure starts from an order by a practitioner authorized to prescribe it. Source Chiropractic physicians are prohibited from prescribing or administering any legend drug, apart from emergency oxygen and certain topical anesthetics. Source Florida’s definition of physical therapy does not list injections. Source Chiropractic physicians and physical therapists: ask your board before booking an injection course.

Stem cell law and Right to Try

SB 1768 (2025) lets a physician perform stem cell therapy that is not FDA approved, within their scope of practice, for orthopedics, wound care or pain management, under its sourcing, notice and consent rules. Source It does not mention platelet-rich plasma. Whether your product or procedure falls under it is a question for your counsel and your board. Florida’s Right to Try Act (2015) covers investigational drugs, biological products or devices for a patient with a terminal condition who meets its conditions. Source The FDA’s rules for human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products apply in every state.

Common questions

What Orlando providers ask before they book.

How much does training in Orlando cost?

Training inside your own practice in Orlando starts at $10,000, with the instructor's travel and lodging included. Training at an instructor's location starts at $5,000. Both are starting points. The quote depends on the discipline, the instructor, how many people are training and how much of the curriculum is built around you.

Do you train in Kissimmee, Sanford and Clermont, or only in Orlando itself?

All of them. An Orlando session runs across Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties, and Orange County by itself takes in about 902 square miles. Source Volusia, Brevard and Polk are part of the area too. Tell us where the practice is when you ask for a date, and the plan is built outward from that address. Travel and lodging for the instructor are priced into the quote.

Will the instructor fly into Orlando International or Sanford?

Orlando International (MCO) for most practices. The airport's own page puts it 12 miles from downtown Orlando and 13 from International Drive. Source Orlando Sanford International (SFB) is at 1200 Red Cleveland Boulevard in Sanford and lists downtown Orlando as a 30 minute drive, Source so it can be the closer one for a practice in Seminole or Volusia County. The quote covers the instructor's travel whichever airport it is.

Does Orlando have different rules from Miami, Tampa or Jacksonville?

Not for what your license allows. Scope of practice and the state laws that touch this field come from the Legislature and the state boards, and they read the same in Orange County as in Miami-Dade. For the short version, go up to the Florida section. For the full reading of each license, go to our Miami page. What does change from city to city is the business side, which is why this page has its own local rules section.

My practice is in Daytona Beach or Melbourne. Do I use this page?

Yes. Volusia and Brevard counties are part of the area an Orlando session covers, and Daytona Beach and the Space Coast are each about an hour from downtown. Ocala, a little over an hour to the northwest, has no page of its own, so ask from here as well. We travel to practices anywhere in Florida, so include the address with your request, and we settle the plan with you before anything is booked.

I'm not licensed in Florida. Can I train in Orlando?

Tell us when you request a date. If we come to you, you train at your own practice under the license you already hold there. If you come to an instructor's location in Florida, what you do hands on depends on your licensure in Florida, and we set the plan with you before you book.

Important information

Read this before you book.

Know what a course is not before you book. It won’t make you a specialist. It carries no CMEs, credit hours or accreditation, and it doesn’t cover your malpractice: you arrange that yourself. No one can promise you outcomes. It is education for licensed providers, not medical or legal advice, and some products and modalities discussed are not FDA approved or cleared for the uses discussed. The Certificate of Completion is not a license or a board certification, and it does not expand your scope of practice. Read the full notes.
