His journey in medicine began at the prestigious UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he honed his skills and knowledge. Following medical school, he completed a rigorous residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Jackson Memorial/University of Miami hospital.
Eager to deepen his understanding of spinal care, Dr. Alam pursued a combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Spine fellowship at the University of Southern California (USC) Spine Center. There, he specialized in minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery, focusing on innovative treatments for adult degenerative conditions.
His commitment to excellence led him to further enrich his training as a visiting spine fellow at Bern University Hospital in Switzerland, where he gained invaluable international experience.
EXPERIENCE
Upon completing his comprehensive medical training, Dr. Alam took on the role of Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery at Riverside Orthopedic Institute in Rutherford, New Jersey.
In this capacity, he was instrumental in developing a holistic program that provided both surgical and nonsurgical treatments for patients suffering from degenerative neck and back conditions.
His leadership extended to his position as Associate Director of spine surgery at Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus, New Jersey, where he played a pivotal role in establishing an award-winning Robotic Spinal Surgery program.
Dr. Alam’s dedication to advancing the field of spine surgery is further exemplified by his active participation in national spine conferences, where he has presented his research and insights.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles that contribute to the body of knowledge surrounding spine conditions and surgical techniques.
As a member of several prestigious professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, AOSpine, and the North American Spine Society, Dr. Alam remains committed to enhancing patient care and fostering innovation in orthopedic spine surgery.
