## Training in Denver

Providers who ask us about Denver practice up and down the Front Range. Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Littleton, Englewood and Highlands Ranch share one metro, and Boulder is about 30 miles northwest. Fort Collins is about an hour north on I-25, and Colorado Springs is a little over an hour south on the same highway.

You pick how the session runs. An instructor can travel to your practice and work with you and your staff on your own equipment, with travel and lodging inside the quote. Or you can train at an instructor’s own working practice. Both ways are private, both use a real patient who has consented, and we settle the scope with you before you book.

Who can train? Anyone legally able to provide the treatment in Colorado. Your license is what decides it, and Colorado gives nurse practitioners full practice authority while tying physician assistants to a collaborative agreement. The two sections below set out each license, with a source for every line.

## Denver at a glance.

Where the instructor flies in, the stretch of the Front Range a Denver session covers, and the health systems around you.

### Getting here

For training inside your practice, the instructor flies into [Denver International Airport](https://www.flydenver.com/about-den/) (DEN), which opened on February 28, 1995. For a practice in Colorado Springs, [Colorado Springs Airport](https://coloradosprings.gov/flycos) can be the closer choice. We fold travel and lodging into the quote.

### The area a Denver session covers

Denver, Arapahoe, Jefferson, Adams, Douglas and Boulder counties, with Larimer and El Paso counties at either end of the drive. That takes in Aurora, Lakewood, Littleton, Englewood, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Castle Rock, Westminster, Thornton, Boulder, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. Across the mountains, the nearest other RMA pages are [Salt Lake City](/salt-lake-city-utah/) and [Bozeman](/bozeman-montana/), and [Kansas City](/kansas-city-missouri/) is the nearest to the east.

### The Anschutz Medical Campus

[University of Colorado Anschutz](https://www.cuanschutz.edu/about/our-history) traces its School of Medicine to 1883, when it opened in Old Main on the Boulder campus, and its health sciences schools moved onto the grounds of the former Fitzsimons army base in 2008. [UCHealth](https://www.uchealth.org/about/) has an academic medical center at its core and a network that reaches across Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. [Children’s Hospital Colorado](https://www.childrenscolorado.org/about/), founded in Denver in 1908, is a private, nonprofit pediatric healthcare network with its hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

### Health systems in Denver

[Denver Health](https://www.denverhealth.org/about-denver-health), founded in 1860, calls itself the region’s primary safety-net health system. It is a Level I Trauma Center and an academic affiliate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. [National Jewish Health](https://www.nationaljewish.org/about), on Jackson Street in Denver, has worked since 1899 on respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders. [Intermountain Health](https://intermountainhealthcare.org/about), a nonprofit system based in Salt Lake City, serves patients in Colorado along with Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Montana and Wyoming.

Colorado scope

## What each Colorado license allows.

In Colorado, the license you hold sets what you can do hands on. Here is how Colorado law reads for each license we train, as of October 2026, with the statute linked. Use it as a starting point, not legal advice.

It is your responsibility to confirm the modality is legal in your state for your license. Do that before you book. The authority on your own scope is your licensing board, not us.

### Physicians, MD and DO

The [Colorado Medical Board](https://dpo.colorado.gov/Medical) licenses physicians and physician assistants. Colorado’s definition of the practice of medicine covers suggesting, recommending, prescribing or administering any form of treatment, and performing any kind of surgical operation upon a human being. It also covers holding oneself out to the public in Colorado as able to diagnose, treat or prescribe. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-240/section-12-240-107/) How we read it: a Colorado physician starts from that full definition, and the rows below show how far each other license reaches.

### Nurse practitioners

Colorado has full practice authority for nurse practitioners, according to the AANP. [Source](https://www.aanp.org/advocacy/colorado) An advanced practice registered nurse is a registered nurse with specialized education or training whom the State Board of Nursing accepts onto the advanced practice registry. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-255/part-1/section-12-255-104/) Prescriptive authority comes in two steps: the board may first grant provisional prescriptive authority, and the APRN must then complete 750 hours of documented experience in a mutually structured prescribing mentorship. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-255/part-1/section-12-255-112/)

### Physician assistants

A Colorado physician assistant must enter into a collaborative agreement with a physician or a physician group. For a physician assistant with fewer than 5,000 practice hours, or one changing practice areas with fewer than 3,000 hours in the new area, that agreement is a supervisory agreement, and collaboration in the first 160 practice hours is completed in person or through technology. The agreement also carries any added requirements the physician sets for that practice. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-240/section-12-240-114-5/) These rules came from SB23-083, effective August 7, 2023. [Source](https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb23-083)

### Registered nurses

Colorado’s definition of professional nursing includes “executing delegated medical functions and delegated patient care functions.” Prescriptive authority sits with nurses on the advanced practice registry, not with RNs as such. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-255/part-1/section-12-255-104/) How we read it: an RN’s part in a procedure is a delegated medical function, so it starts with a practitioner who holds the authority to delegate it. The [State Board of Nursing](https://dpo.colorado.gov/Nursing) is the authority on where a given task falls.

### Chiropractors

Colorado’s definition of chiropractic covers adjustment or manipulation, by hand or instrument, of the articulations and adjacent tissue; sanitary, hygienic, nutritional and physical remedial measures; venipuncture for diagnostic purposes; and acupuncture when performed by an appropriately trained chiropractor. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-215/part-1/section-12-215-103/) The venipuncture it allows is diagnostic, and the definition says nothing about injecting a product. How we read it: take an injection course to the [Board of Chiropractic Examiners](https://dpo.colorado.gov/Chiropractic) before you book.

### Physical therapists

Colorado’s definition of physical therapy includes “the administration of topical and aerosol medications consistent with the scope of physical therapy practice,” general wound care and wound debridement, and dry needling among the physical measures and activities a therapist may use. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-12/health-care-professions-and-occupations/article-285/part-1/section-12-285-104/) Injected medications are not on that list. How we read it: an injection course falls outside what the statute names, so check it with the [State Physical Therapy Board](https://dpo.colorado.gov/PhysicalTherapy) first.

Colorado law

## The Colorado rules that touch regenerative medicine.

State law in this field changes, sometimes more than once a year. Our reading of each state, with its sources and the date we checked, is on the [rules by state page](/regenerative-medicine-laws-by-state/#colorado). It is a starting point, not legal advice.

### Stem cell products

We found no Colorado law written specifically for stem cell products. The FDA’s rules govern them either way, and a question about a particular product goes to the [Colorado Medical Board](https://dpo.colorado.gov/Medical) or your own board. The date we last checked is on the [rules by state page](/regenerative-medicine-laws-by-state/#colorado).

### Right to Try Act

Colorado’s Right to Try Act covers an eligible patient with a terminal illness, attested to by the patient’s treating physician. It defines a terminal illness as a disease that, without life-sustaining procedures, will soon result in death or a state of permanent unconsciousness. It applies to an investigational drug, biological product or device that has completed phase one of a clinical trial but has not yet been FDA approved. [Source](https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-25/health-care/article-45/part-1/section-25-45-103/)

### HB 25-1270, individualized treatments (2025)

Signed on May 19, 2025, the Patients’ Right to Try Individualized Treatments law lets an eligible patient with a life-threatening or severely debilitating illness, attested to by the treating physician, ask for an individualized investigational drug, biological product or device. That is one produced exclusively for a single patient, based on the patient’s own genetic profile. The manufacturer must operate within an institution under federal rules for the protection of human subjects, and no manufacturer is required to make a treatment available. [Source](https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/hb25-1270)

### Federal rules still apply

Colorado law sits on top of federal law, not in place of it. The FDA’s rules for human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products apply in every state. Our summary is in the [federal section](/regenerative-medicine-laws-by-state/#federal) of the rules by state page.

Common questions

## What Denver providers ask before they book.

### How much does training in Denver cost?

Training inside your own practice in Denver starts at $10,000, with the instructor's travel and lodging included. Training at an instructor's location starts at $5,000. Both are starting points. The quote depends on the discipline, the instructor, how many people are training and how much of the curriculum is built around you.

### Does Colorado have a stem cell law?

We found no Colorado law written specifically for stem cell products. What governs instead is federal: the FDA's rules for human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products. Colorado's Right to Try Act and its 2025 individualized treatment law cover investigational products for patients who qualify, which is a different question from everyday practice. Our reading, with its sources, is on the [rules by state page](/regenerative-medicine-laws-by-state/#colorado).

### Can a Colorado NP or PA do the hands-on part?

Within your Colorado scope, yes. Nurse practitioners have full practice authority in Colorado. A physician assistant works under a collaborative agreement, and for a newer PA that agreement is a supervisory one. Bring the agreement when we plan the session, and we set the hands-on work around it before you book.

### I'm not licensed in Colorado. Can I train in Denver?

Tell us when you ask for a date. If the instructor comes to you, you train in your own practice under the license you already hold there. If you travel to an instructor's location in Colorado, your hands-on role depends on your Colorado licensure, and we agree the plan with you before you book.

Important information

## Read this before you book.

Know what a course is not before you book. It won’t make you a specialist. It carries no CMEs, credit hours or accreditation, and it doesn’t cover your malpractice: you arrange that yourself. No one can promise you outcomes. It is education for licensed providers, not medical or legal advice, and some products and modalities discussed are not FDA approved or cleared for the uses discussed. The Certificate of Completion is not a license or a board certification, and it does not expand your scope of practice. [Read the full notes](/our-courses/#rma-compliance).
